Several local track stars to travel to Indianapolis for state meetups | Sports
Gibson County will be well represented at both the IHSAA Boy’s State Track Meet on Friday and the Girls State Meet on Saturday at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.
Friday’s boys meet will see Cole Hurt, star of the Princeton community, compete in the 300m hurdles.
Hurt won a regional title at Princeton Community both individually and with his team, then won a regional championship at Evansville Central last Thursday.
He will be returning to Indianapolis this fall as he has committed to running and playing football for the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds.
On Saturday, the three local high schools will be represented.
Josie Page of Wood Memorial, who won the regional and sectional titles in the high jump, will travel north to Indianpllois after a strong freshman season for the Lady Trojans.
Gibson Southern will send Ava Weisheit to participate in the disc after her third place in the regional as well as their 4x800m relay team of Courtney Heldt, Raegan Heldt, Olivia Pennington and Taylor Hart.
Finally, Princeton Community will also send its relay team made up of Laci Spore, Heidi Meade, Haley Meade and Lexi Smith. Spore will also participate in the 120M scoreboard.
