Paul Schaeflein presents SharePoint for Developers
|
|
You've heard about SharePoint, eh? It is a framework that connects people, process, and information.
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 provides foundational features that are valuable for creating web based applications such as a web part framework, data lists, document libraries, workflow runtime, and web site templates. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 adds major application features on top of this, including user site provisioning, business intelligence features, forms services, content management, integrated search and social networking features. All of these features can be built on by developers to extend them. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 is built entirely on ASP.NET so you use the same familiar .NET languages, the same .NET Framework and ASP.NET class libraries and the same development tools.
Paul will show, via sample projects, how web parts are developed.
|
About Paul Schaeflein Paul Schaeflein is a developer with more than 20 years experience. Paul has been developing dynamic and interactive Web sites since 1996. Paul has worked on all of the versions of SharePoint and has worked with the .NET framework since its debut, and authored the Web Parts and deployment section of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Best Practices. You can reach Paul through his blog at http://www.schaeflein.net/blog/. | |

Microsoft .NET Data Services ("Project Astoria") and the Semantic WebThe goal of Microsoft .NET Data Services (Codename "Astoria") is to enable applications to expose data as a data service that can be consumed by web clients within a corporate network and across the internet. The Semantic Web brings to the Web the idea of having data defined and linked in a way that it can be used for more effective discovery, automation, integration, and reuse across various applications. Astoria applications are reachable over HTTP, and URIs are used to identify the various pieces of information available through the service. Chris will show how the Semantic Web can bring new opportunities to your business and/or clients using new technologies like the .NET Data Services.
About the Speaker Chris Woodruff is an Architect in the West Michigan Practice group at NuSoft Solutions. His work involves integrating new technologies, assisting development teams with architecture designs, and helping with development standards. Chris is the VP of the West Michigan .NET User Group and also is a Advisory Council Member at Capella University for the External Information Technology Advisory Council. Chris is the founder and coordinator of the Day of .NET West Michigan and also helps with other Day of .NET events in Michigan. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering at Michigan State University.

IndyGiveCamp is coming soon. TFS SIG Leader Paul Hacker is leading the charge to establish IndyGiveCamp.
A little history: GiveCamp started out as a stand-alone volunteer effort called the We Are Microsoft Charity Challenge Weekend that allowed developers, designers, DBAs and web development enthusiasts to donate their time and talent developing new web applications for local-area Dallas charities.
The event was held over a 3 day period from January 18-20, 2008 and attracted 82 developers, 18 charities and 15 volunteers from all over (Dallas), including 17 MVPs and local influencers. It touched not only the local community but also struck a chord with developers far and wide. The event was so impactful that .NET developer communities are organizing similar events in many cities, including Indianapolis.
The IndyGiveCamp website will be established soon to accept proposals. |
